I started my career as a PA in major blue-chip corporations, learning the value of organised systems and professional standards.
Later, I ran a dental practice for five years, managing everything from staffing to compliance. Real hands-on business management.
I even turned a personal problem into a business opportunity when I saw a gap in the market for strong, quality raised dog beds. I imported a container load, and sold them to kennels, pet shops, and individuals. Twenty-three years later, my dogs are still using the originals.
That practical, problem-solving spirit is at the heart of Quirky Giraffe.
Over the years I don't think I've worked for a single business that didn't have at least one workflow or process that just didn't work. Either for the customer or for the staff, their suppliers or any combination of those three! So much time and energy was wasted by those like me who really cared about making sure small businesses got paid on time, clients got fantastic customer service, or my team didn't get stressed and burnt out trying to make things happen that should have been simple but just weren't.
So here's my five WHYS:
I want to see the end of inefficient business processes
I want to redesign disconnected systems (and departments) that just don't talk to each other.
I want to eliminate workarounds where there should be solutions and remove stress from staff who have to work around broken workflows instead of the business fixing them
I want to save wasted hours for your business - doing something manually that can be easily automated drains time and energy
I want to do all this by implementing the best solution for your business. A bespoke solution, not just plug in the latest shiny new AI bot. The wrong solution can be just as damaging as a solution that isn't working.
I've set up and managed multiple business start-up programmes, working with over 350 start-up and small businesses, helping them to optimise their foundations and processes from the very start.
At the university level, I helped set up three brand-new Innovation Centres from scratch. I designed processes that worked for both large institutions and new businesses.
I became the audit and compliance specialist across the three Innovation Centres and managed multiple sites. This experience taught me how to create clarity, reduce risk, and keep things simple even in complex environments.
Now based in Worcestershire, I work with businesses across the UK to design practical, sustainable solutions that actually work in the real world.
I don’t offer off-the-shelf solutions or push unnecessary tech because it’s fashionable.
Every project is designed specifically to fit my client's business. I take time to understand how you work and what you really need so the solution is practical, sustainable, and easy for your team to use.
I give honest, no-nonsense, cost-effective advice. If automation or AI can make a real difference, I’ll use it. But if the best answer is simpler, I’ll say that.
My goal is always to make your business run better, saving you time, reducing costs, and making life easier for you and your team.
